Robinson Cano wants to shine in the majors

Cano batted .319 with 29 homers for the Yankees in 2010.

SAN PEDRO DE MACORIS, Dominican Republic - Robinson Cano had last year the best season of his career in baseball. Now, the second baseman of the New York Yankees want more.

"My focus is to overcome the issues of 2010. I always want to be better and that's the goal for next season," Cano told AP on Saturday. Cano led

First Cup of Softball Jackie Robinson in the Dominican Republic in an activity sponsored by Robinson Cano Foundation in conjunction with the U.S. Embassy in this Caribbean island.

Activity was present in the United States ambassador, Raul Yzaguirre, and various personalities of Cano's hometown, San Pedro de Macoris.

"This activity is in honor of Jackie Robinson and is a good opportunity for the players here know and understand what they lived through that big leaguer to reach the Major Leagues," Cano said, referring to the first black baseball player who played in Major League Baseball.

The 28-year Dominican batted .319 with 29 homers and 109 RBIs last season with the Yankees.

"I stay healthy and know that everything else will come," added second baseman.
