MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota Twins reached an agreement with the left-hander Francisco Liriano for one season and $ 4.3 million and thus avoided arbitration.
The Twins announced the deal on Saturday.
Liriano, 27, had improved to 14-10 with an average 3.62 ERA with the Twins last season and opened the first game of the series of playoffs against the Yankees New York.
season was the culmination after a long absence because of surgery ligament replacement elbow. Liriano missed the entire 2007 season after surgery and then struggled in the seasons of 2008 and 2009 to recover its capacity.
Liriano had scoreless streaks at 23 and 21 innings last season and won eight straight games from July 16 to September 4.
